Join Us For Pelotonia 2014!

Last year when we signed Trevor up for Pelotonia and began asking people to join us, we were filled with questions.  How were we going to raise the money?  What was the event going to be like?  Was it going to be all “serious” bike riders?  We were excited but so nervous.  After having the full Pelotonia experience last year, there was nothing to be nervous about.  Everyone was so supportive helping us raise funds to end cancer and supportive through much needed encouragement.  Pelotonia is truly a community.  It is not just a weekend event but a way of life, a movement, where we are truly all coming together with ONE GOAL in mind and that is to end cancer for good.  It is not a bike race, but a casual ride with friends and new friends that you have made along the way.  And everyone is working together, hoping to not only reach the finish line but committed to continuing to be a part of Pelotonia until we reach the true finish line of finding a cure.

It is held in the Columbus, OH area.  There are six different distances that you can ride, from 25 miles up to 180 miles.  The amazing part of it all – every cent raised, 100% of it, goes to directly support cancer research conducted at the Comprehensive Cancer Center—James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC—James) at The Ohio State University. It is amazing to read some of the research they are doing right now with Pelotonia raised funds.  (Go here to read about it)

Trevor is riding again this year, and we couldn’t be more ecstatic about it.  We already have our A-Town Team together, click here to see our Peloton.  We have a total of 4 riders, including my Dad this year, two virtual riders, and one volunteer.  We would LOVE to have more!  I want to tell everyone I know, this is how you can help END CANCER.  There are so many different ways that you can be involved.

  1. Donate to Trevor’s ride.  He has committed to raise $1250, but I think we can do better than that.  Click here to go to his Pelotonia profile page and you can donate right there.
  2. Become a Virtual Rider.  Registering as a Virtual Rider is an option for people who want to be a part of Pelotonia but aren’t necessarily up for actually riding during the event.  It only costs $10 to get started and that $10 serves as a donation to help jump start your fundraising efforts and their is no fundraising minimum.
  3. Ride with us!!  We would love for more people to commit to ride in Pelotonia this year.  It is August 8-10.  You can even join our Peloton group!  If you have any questions about the event, contact me and I would be happy to talk to you all about it.

We did a raffle last year with the top prize being a mini-session and I am hoping we will do another one this year, and I am donating 10% of all print orders.  Please help us end cancer once and for all!  I am not only doing this for my mom and all of the families I see devastated by this disease, but for my children so that they do not have to see one of their parents suffer through cancer or suffer through it themselves.  Join us!
